Teresa was born on December 25, 2006 in China. She was born with a very complex heart condition. In July 2010, Teresa arrived in the United States with the hope that she would finally be able to receive the life-saving surgery she needed. Unfortunately, due the delay in medical care, her family learned she not only needed a heart transplant but also a lung transplant. Her doctors felt she would not survive this operation. Amazingly, with her new family Teresa did get strong enough to get a new heart in June of 2013. Ultimately, she succumbed to complications following surgery, and on July 1, 2013 the world gained a new angel.

She was an amazing inspiration to all who met her! Health For Orphans is honored to work with Teresa’s family to provide life-saving heart surgery to orphans IN China—eliminating the wait. Through funds raised by runners at Disney, we hope to give at least one orphan the surgery they so urgently need by the end of the Princess Half marathon. Help us to give “A heart from Teresa”.
